Trump claims Musk will uncover "hundreds of billions" of dollars in U.S. fraud.

CE Noticias Financieras

U.S. President Donald Trump said that Elon Musk will help uncover "hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud" against government agencies.

Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a department in charge of cutting federal spending, is in charge of making other government departments work properly even with the reduction of public spending, eliminating excessive regulations and restructuring federal agencies to improve government efficiency.

In a preview of an interview with Fox News that should air this Sunday before the Super Bowl, Trump said the American people "want me to find" waste and that Musk, the richest man in the world, will be the one to help "find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud and abuse. They know that's what the people elected me to do."

In his role as leader of DOGE, Musk has implemented several initiatives, including:

Audits at federal agencies

1

Elon Musk, as part of his first actions to meet the objectives assigned to him, has deployed several teams to evaluate agency spending and find ways to reduce it, the first on the list are the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of the Treasury.

Access to government systems

2

Elon Musk 's team has been granted access to internal government systems, including sensitive Treasury Department data, in order to identify and eliminate unnecessary spending.

This has raised fears among American citizens, who have called for Musk and his people to be denied access to the personal and financial data of millions of Americans. Yesterday, a federal judge issued an emergency order to prevent DOGE from accessing sensitive data.

Agency Elimination Proposals

3

Elon Musk has suggested eliminating agencies he considers redundant or inefficient, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Plans to combine and restructure the FDIC, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Reserve have also been discussed.
