Trump Asks Congress to Revive Heller’s Disastrous Health Care Bill

CARSON CITY, Nevada, Feb. 12 -- The Nevada Democratic Party issued the following news release:
President Trump's new proposed budget was released today, and it calls on Congress to pass the Graham-Cassidy-Heller health care bill "as soon as possible." The renewed call to pass the GOP bill, which would cut $250 billion from Medicaid over the next ten years, serves as yet another reminder of Sen. Dean Heller's broken promise to Nevadans on health care. Nevada's Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval has been vocally opposed to the bill.
Here's a refresher of how Heller's bill would harm Nevada:
243,000: The number of Nevadans who would likely lose their health insurance in the next decade.
$2.7 billion: The amount of federal health care funding Nevada would lose through 2027.
20%: Average increase in individual market premiums.
$11,018: The potential increase in premiums a 60-year old in Nevada making $25,000 in 2020 would face.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Sarah Abel released the following statement:
"Despite Sen. Heller's own promise last summer not to support a bill that would take health care away from Nevadans, Heller caved to political pressure from his donors and party leaders in Washington and broke that promise over and over again. President Trump's budget proposal is a powerful reminder to every Nevada voter that Dean Heller is still desperately committed to passing the Republican Party's toxic health care agenda that would increase costs and strip coverage."
