The Council of Insurance Agents & Broker’s Cheryl Matochik Elected President of Gamma Iota Sigma

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

WASHINGTON, Oct. 21 -- The Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers issued the following news release:

Cheryl Matochik, senior vice president of strategic resources and initiatives for The Council for Insurance Agents & Brokers, ., in Washington, DC, was elected president of Gamma Iota Sigma, announced today by the professional fraternity. She succeeds Wesley Griffiths, second vice president and actuary at Travelers within the business insurance division.

Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS), the insurance industry's premier collegiate talent pipeline, announced new members and changes to the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees as approved in its September 28 board meeting held during the 48th Annual International Conference in Dallas, TX.

GIS' Chief Executive Officer Noelle Codispoti, CPCU, ARM, said, "We are thrilled for Cheryl Matochik to take the helm as president, building on the visionary and action-focused leadership of immediate past president Wes Griffiths. Cheryl not only brings an unparalleled dynamism and intuitive sense of the insurance ecosystem, she is uniquely positioned to harness and amplify the industry's energy and innovative outlook for the benefit of the rising generation."

Matochik has been with The Council since 2004 and has worked in a variety of roles to deliver business intelligence to member firms with a focus on the impact of healthcare reform on employer-sponsored insurance, cybersecurity and insurance technology. She oversees The Council's Employee Benefits Executives Advisory Committee and Market Intelligence & Insights department.

"I am honored to serve as Gamma Iota Sigma's president," said Matochik. "2020 is going to be an exciting year, and I want to help shape the upcoming talent of our organization to be leaders of our industry in this coming decade."

"There is no more inspiring or committed group of leaders representing the industry, championing the future of talent and bolstering student exposure than the members of our Board of Trustees," Codispoti said. "Representing a broad cross-section of industry organizations, segments, functional areas and innovators, this group brings an unrivaled passion for a robust and diverse talent pipeline, whose own experiences underscore the importance of access and engagement, ensuring that students gain widespread exposure to the industry's breadth of opportunity."

Matochik was elected to a one-year term. The next Gamma Iota Sigma convention will take place in the beginning of fall 2020.
