Texas Democratic Party: Trump and the GOP Diverted Crucial FEMA Funds to Build a Stupid Wall That Nobody Wants

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 29 -- The Texas Democratic Party issued the following press document:
Texas largely dodged a bullet as Hurricane Laura unleashed its wrath on Louisiana and other southern states. However, as Texas and the rest of the country brace for an active hurricane season, fewer resources will be available to residents in need as the Trump Administration decided to divert $155 million from FEMA, to pay for his massively-expensive border wall that he promised Mexico would pay for.
Yes, you read that correctly, Trump diverted crucial disaster relief funds to build a wall that nobody wants.
Their failed leadership and inaction is not an excuse to leave hurricane-ravaged Americans high and dry. The Administration is woefully unprepared for the hurricanes that have already hit some of the most vulnerable communities in our country.
The City of Houston has been pleading to build a coastal spine system to protect Houstonians known as "the Ike Dike."
Donald Trump has failed to provide funding for it, calling this crucial protection for millions of Texans from natural disasters a "crazy thing."
Texas Democratic Party Spokesperson Brittany Switzer released the following statement:
"As Donald Trump prepares to visit Texas this weekend, it's important to remember the many ways Trump has failed Texans. From diverting a staggering $155 million from crucial FEMA disaster relief funds to build a stupid wall to saying Texas 'made a fortune' off of Hurricane Harvey, Donald Trump has proven time and time again that he is woefully unprepared for disasters."
