Business Wire

LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Summit, a leading superregional provider of workers’ compensation insurance services, is pleased to announce significant enhancements to its leadership team. Darin Grimm has been named senior vice president of the Florida Region, Kellie Chaloupka has been promoted to senior vice president of claims and medical management, and Greg Talbot has been promoted to senior vice president of actuarial and underwriting.

“Over the next several years, we intend to increase business in our current footprint and grow by entering new states. As we continue to grow and evolve, we must have an organizational structure that supports our brand and allows us to best serve the agents, policyholders and injured employees we work with every day,” says Summit President and CEO James Wood.

Darin Grimm, Senior Vice President, Florida Region

In Grimm’s newly established position, he will oversee the Florida Region claims, underwriting, loss prevention and premium audit teams.

“Darin has a proven track record as a senior leader and truly understands Summit’s culture and brand,” says Wood. “Darin knows the Florida agency community and has a thorough understanding of our business model. He understands how important our market share is in Florida and is the right person to lead the region going forward.”

Grimm joined Summit as an underwriter in 2003 and has held roles of increasing responsibility in several departments including sales, marketing and claims, most recently serving as senior vice president of claims. Grimm earned a Bachelor of Arts in business and professional leadership from Southeastern University, a Master of Business Administration from Saint Leo University and a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of South Florida’s Muma College of Business.

Kellie Chaloupka, Senior Vice President, Claims and Medical Management

With this promotion, Chaloupka will provide direct leadership to Summit’s medical operations, customer care and a variety of claims operations.

“Kellie has been instrumental in leading our claims and medical organization and is uniquely positioned to provide functional oversight to how we manage claims in all regions,” praises Wood. “She is a role model in our culture and has a comprehensive understanding of our brand’s value in the marketplace.”

Since joining Summit in 2005, Chaloupka worked as a field claims adjuster and then a sales business developer before holding roles of increasing leadership, most recently serving as vice president of claims. Chaloupka earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Central Arkansas. Her professional designations include Associate in Claims (AIC) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). She also served on the board of directors for the Arkansas Insurance Hall of Fame from 2015 to 2017.

Greg Talbot, Senior Vice President, Actuarial and Underwriting

Talbot will provide direct leadership to actuarial operations, underwriting operations and regulatory/reinsurance operations, as well as functional oversight to how Summit manages underwriting, loss prevention and premium audit throughout the organization. Talbot will be taking on many of the responsibilities that Brad Ritter currently holds. Ritter, who is currently our senior vice president and chief actuary, has announced his retirement effective in July.

Wood remarks, “Greg possesses exceptional expertise in analytics and has been a solid leader at Summit for many years. As he expands his influence across the organization, our results will continue to improve.”

Talbot joined Summit as an actuary in 2010 and was responsible for overseeing rate and reserve adequacy, predictive modeling, and internal reporting. He most recently served as vice president of actuarial for Summit. Talbot earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Florida in 2003 and attained his credentials as a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society in 2009.
