May 26-- May 26--State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company recently announced a rate reduction in West Virginia -- an overall personal auto rate decrease of 5.5 percent.
The release said the total statewide expected impact for State Farm Mutual by the West Virginia rate decrease will be approximately $17.7 million.
The last overall rate change in West Virginia was a decrease of 3.0 percent in August 2018. Combined, the release said the two auto rate decreases save West Virginia customers $26.8 million.
"We're always evaluating how we can best serve our customers and are very pleased to be able to offer this rate decrease in West Virginia," said State Farm Senior Vice President Chris Schell. "Lower than expected expenses and losses were important factors, among many, that supported our decision to make this rate change."
Overall changes in premiums for individual motorists will vary depending on the specific details of an individual customer's policy and chosen coverages.
The effective date for new and renewal business is May 27. West Virginia customers with questions can contact their local State Farm agent to discuss their individual situation.
