Spokane Elder Resource Team sets senior planning workshops

Sept. 22--A series of senior planning workshops begin next week at two library locations. The free sessions are open to the public and led by the professional networking group Spokane Elder Resource Team.

For the "Plan Well, Age Well" fall series, SERT members will offer tips for smoother transitions as people age -- from downsizing to financial planning.

The different workshops alternate on dates through October at the Argonne and Airway Heights branches of the Spokane County Library District. People can attend individual sessions or the entire series.

Family Dynamics & Care Management will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Airway Heights Library, and again at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Argonne Library. The session is presented by Becky Tiller, owner of Tiller Care Strategies, and Gail Goeller, author of "Coming of Age with Aging Parents."

Next month, Long-Term Care Insurance & Medicare Planning is scheduled at 1 p.m. Oct. 2 at Airway Heights and again at 6 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Argonne Library. Joel Ferris, of Ferris Long-Term Care Insurance, will present planning strategies.

Prepare for a Secure Financial Future will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at Airway Heights library, and again at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 at Argonne library. The session is led by Daria Brown, CPA for Fruci & Associates, regarding new tax law changes and Social Security planning, along with Dustin Allbery, a financial planner, on a well-balanced financial and strategies.

The fourth workshop is Home Downsizing & Medicaid Strategies at 1 p.m. Oct. 16 in Airway Heights and again at 6 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Argonne library. It features Kathy Bryant, a real estate senior residential specialist, and Lynn St. Louis, Elder Law Group PLLC Managing Partner, who will review elder law planning essentials and estate planning.

The Airway Heights Library is at 1213 S. Lundstrom St. The Argonne branch is at 4322 N. Argonne Road.
