Southland crime: Man impersonating police calls asking security details, and more

Mar. 31—Homer Glen

CAR BURGLARIES: Police said someone stole two wallets from two different unlocked cars parked in the 15000 block of Oak Valley Trail on March 10.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: A man in the 12000 block of West Pheasant Court told police he woke up to the sound of his garage door opening at 4 a.m. on March 10. Through the window he said he saw an unknown man run from his driveway and into a waiting black SUV. The suspect had entered the victim's unlocked car and used his garage door opener to open the garage door.

New Lenox

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Leiticia Velazquez, 28, of the 1200 block of Barbara Lane, Chicago Heights, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license March 23 at U.S. 30 and Vine Street, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Stanae Williams, 28, of Joliet, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license March 24 in the 300 block of West Maple Street, police said.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Alex Witt, 32, of the 1200 block of Towncrest Drive, New Lenox, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault after "aggressively" approaching someone with an expandable baton March 24, police said.

DRUG ARREST: Cameron Moffett, 22, of Joliet, was arrested and accused of possession of a controlled substance and violation of an order of protection March 25 at Laraway Road and Rachel Ridge Drive, police said. Jasmine Smith, 33, of the 1400 block of Pioneer Road, Crest Hill, was arrested and accused of driving on a revoked license.

Oak Forest

BURGLARY: A woman told police someone stole a handgun, numerous 10 oz silver and gold bars, $1,000 in cash, diamond earrings, a diamond necklace and a diamond ring from a small refrigerator in her bedroom in the 15200 block of Colina Avenue Oct. 1- Dec. 20.

CAR BURGLARY: A man told police someone stole several HVAC tools from his work van when he was parked in the 16200 block of Lorel Avenue March 23-24.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: A woman in the 14300 block of Walden Court told police someone shattered her car window March 23-24.

DUI ARREST: Clesta McWright, 58, of the 810 block of Eberhart Avenue, was arrested and accused of drugged driving, obstructing justice, driving on a suspended license, no insurance, disobeying a traffic control device and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle March 24 in the 6700 block of 159th Street, police said.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Louis Olguin, 67, of Harvey, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault and battery after spitting on a woman and threatening to kill her while holding a hatchet during a road rage incident in the 5100 block of West 159th Street March 25, police said.

THEFT: A woman in the 4300 block of Barry Lane told police someone stole her catalytic converter when her car was parked outside of her home March 26-27.

Orland Park

BATTERY ARREST: Dinah Scott, 45, of the 5900 block of Lakeside Drive, Tinley Park, was arrested and accused of battery and theft of labor or services after a March 4 incident at Red Lobster, 14750 LaGrange Road, police said. Police said Scott left the restaurant without paying a bill for her and a family member. An employee then confronted her and placed her hand on the front of Scott's vehicle to prevent her from leaving. Scott then drove forward slowly, knocking the employee to the ground, according to witnesses. The employee was not seriously injured.

DUI ARREST: Michael Carey, 41, of the 10500 block of Thornham Lane, Mokena, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, improper lane usage, no insurance, reckless driving and resisting arrest March 7 at 151st and LaGrange Road, police said.

DUI ARREST: Colin Walton, 21, of the 17500 block of Kelsey Lane, Orland Park, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, improper lane usage, driving on a suspended license and no insurance March 7 at 167th Street and 104th Avenue, police said.

DUI ARREST: Michael O'Rahilly, 55, of the 8700 block of Wren Avenue, Hodgkins, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, improper lane usage and improper lane change without a signal March 9 in the 13100 block of LaGrange Road, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Leslie Mrdaj, 68, of the 3500 block of Lakeview Drive, Hazel Crest, was arrested and accused of retail theft after stealing two handbags valued at $780 from Von Maur in Orland Square Mall on March 10, police said.

DRUG ARREST: Destiny Clark, 21, of Harvey, was arrested and accused of unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance after an incident at Meijer, 15701 71st Court, on March 11, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Anasia Williams, 19, of Crest Hill, was arrested and accused of retail theft after stealing merchandise from Macy's in Orland Square Mall on March 12, police said.

FLEEING POLICE: James Thigpen, 26, of the 18800 block of Maple Avenue, Country Club Hills, was arrested and accused of fleeing or eluding police, reckless driving, no license plate, obstructed windshield and improper lane usage March 12 in the 9100 block of 159th Street, police said.

DUI ARREST: Nicholas Buck, 32, of Burbank, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, no insurance and unsafe backing on a roadway March 13 in the 9900 block of 143rd Street, police said.

DUI ARREST: Kelly Kehoe, 51, of the 9400 block of Quail Crossing, Tinley Park, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, illegal transportation of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control light March 14 at 143rd Street and Ravinia Avenue, police said.

Will County

IMPERSONATING POLICE: A man in the 1900 block of South Hillgate Road told police someone impersonating a Mokena police officer called him and began asking specific questions about security at the victim's business in the 12800 block of Clyde Court on March 10. Mokena police confirmed no one at the department had contacted the victim and no one by the name supplied by the phone officer works for the department.

REVOKED LICENSE: Erin Ropac, 43, of the 18100 block of Highland Avenue, Homewood, was arrested and accused of illegal transportation of alcohol and driving on a revoked license March 11 at Woodlawn and South Pine in New Lenox Township, police said.

CAR BURGLARY: Police said someone entered an unlocked car and stole loose change, a garage door opener and a Bluetooth speaker March 14 in the 1700 block of Tomahawk Ridge in New Lenox Township, police said.

BURGLARY: Police said someone stole a 2012 black enclosed cargo mate trailer from the parking lot of Berkot's, 30857 S. U.S. 45 in Peotone on March 11.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: David Dolan, 64, of the 11018 block of Wilmington-Peotone Road, Enchanted Shores, was arrested and accused of criminal damage to property and violation of bail bond after a March 11 incident at his home, police said.

Chicago Ridge

DRUG ARREST: Jeannie Lofgren, 39, of Chicago, was arrested and accused of possession of a controlled substance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident March 25 in the 5700 block of West 111th Street, police said.

CONCEALED CARRY: Gregory Lichtenberger, 38, of Midlothian, was arrested and accused of a concealed carry violation, drunken driving, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving on a suspended license, improper lane usage and no insurance March 27 in the 6400 block of Ridgeland Avenue, police said.

Country Club Hills

VANDALISM: Jason M. Dickson, 21, Lansing, was arrested and accused of criminally damaging property March 13 in the 17700 block of Arlington Drive after breaking a car radio, police said.

VANDALISM: Essence Harris, of the 16500 block of Wood Street, Markham, was arrested and accused of criminal damage to property March 13 in the 17700 block of Arlington Drive, police said.

DUI: Qawana D. Sims, 34, of the 200 block of Wilson Street, Villa Rica, Ga., was charged with drunken driving, driving on a suspended license and illegal transporting alcohol during a March 13 crash investigation at 175th Street and Pulaski Avenue, police said.

NO LICENSE: Jheri Smith, 34. of the 3800 block of Carrington Drive, Hazel Crest, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license during a March 14 stop at 177th Street and Winston Court for improper passing, police said.

Homewood

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Tonya Jackson, 53, 17600 block of Surrey Lane, Hazel Crest, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license during a March 19 traffic stop at 183rd Street and Kedzie Avenue for a stopped vehicle obstructing traffic, police said.

DUI: Deontae Hope, 33, Hammond, Ind., was arrested and accused of drunken driving, driving without a valid license and driving without insurance during a March 20 traffic stop in the 1800 block of 183rd Street for improper lane use and parking where prohibited, police said.

Oak Lawn

DUI: David A. Tamosaitis, 52, undisclosed block of 52nd Street, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of drunken driving and reckless driving during a March 7 traffic stop at Harnew Road and Wick Drive after Tamosaitis avoided a traffic light at 103rd Street and Cicero Avenue, police said. An officer had followed Tamosaitis' vehicle after noticing its front passenger tire was falling off, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Bianca J. Jones, 36, undisclosed block of 147th Place, Midlothian, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license during a March 11 stop in the 5900 block of 103rd Street for disregarding a stop sign, police said.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Carol L. O'Callaghan, 57, undisclosed block of Arnold Place, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of disorderly conduct March 11 at AutoZone, 10401 Cicero Ave., for arguing with her manager and refusing to leave after her shift ended, police said.

WARRANT SERVICE: Montrevia D. Hinton, 19, Chicago, was taken into custody on four Waukesha County, Wisc. warrants, including retail theft and bail jumping, during an unrelated March 12 investigation at a restaurant in the 4000 block of 95th Street, police said.

CAR BURGLARY: A wallet was reported stolen from a locked car with a smashed passenger window March 12 at Planet Fitness, 9503 Cicero Ave.

THEFT: A package was reported stolen March 12 from the doorstep of a residence in an undisclosed block of Sayre Avenue.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Nidal F. Assaf, 57, Plainfield, was arrested and accused of disorderly conduct March 13 in the 5500 block of 110th Street after threatening another man over an automotive-crash-related insurance issue, police said.

ILLEGAL GUN: Moneia D. Beasley, 23, Chicago, was arrested and accused of unlawfully possessing a weapon during a March 13 stop at 87th Street and Mayfield Place for speeding after officers recovered a .38-caliber semi-automatic handgun with two bullets in the magazine, police said. Beasley was also accused of drunken driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit, aggravated speeding and illegally transporting alcohol, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Jorge M. Garcia, 18, undisclosed block of 151st Street, Harvey, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, driving without a valid license and driving without insurance during a March 13 stop at 95th Street and Campbell Avenue for speeding, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Nicole M. Jones, 38, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, driving without a valid license and driving without insurance during a March 13 suspicious-vehicle stop at 95th Street and Kildare Avenue, police said. A female Hometown officer assisted with booking Jones, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Jakobi A. Bennett, 21, undisclosed block of Richmond Avenue, Evergreen Park, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license during a March 14 stop in the 6000 block of 95th Street for speeding, police said.

CANINE CAPERS: Two free-ranging female bulldogs escaped execution by a local resident at Memorial Park on March 14 but picked up tickets from police for being unleashed and untagged. Officers arrived at the scene to find the dogs, a local woman, who had taken refuge in a pond from the dogs, and her husband, who also had arrived and was contemplating them with his legal gun, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Jarvell Davis, 21, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and driving without a valid license during a March 15 stop at Cicero and Southwest Highway for failing to signal and following too closely, police said.

NO LICENSE: Krishnbhai R. Patel, 24, undisclosed block of Pulaski Road, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license during a march 15 stop in the 9800 block of Pulaski Road for speeding, police said.

CAR THEFT: Two 2018 Infiniti Q50s were reported stolen March 15 from Kelly Nissan, 4300 95th Street.

NO LICENSE: Anthony Chavez, 20, undisclosed block of Moody Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license and driving without insurance during a March 16 stop at 95th Street and Central Avenue for speeding, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Shantise Funchest, 37, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance during a March 16 stop at Southwest Highway and Kenton Avenue for illegally tinted windows, police said.

NARCOTICS: Rafael J. Hernandez, 41, Chicago, was arrested and accused of illegally possessing cannabis in a motor vehicle after an officer recovered eight grams of marijuana in two improperly sealed packages during a March 16 stop in the 9300 block of Cicero Avenue for speeding, police said.
