'She accelerated all of the way through': SUV crashes into Indiana Avenue law firm
Alamogordo Daily News (NM)
Jan. 7--A vehicle crashed into the side of a business on Indiana Avenue on Friday, causing severe exterior damage .
At approximately 11 a.m. on Friday, a 70-year-old woman driving a white 2019 Toyota SUV was traveling northbound on Indiana when she swerved to the right to avoid a westbound vehicle who had failed to yield right-of-way.
The woman then crashed through the right side Whorton Law Offices in the 1200 block of Indiana.
Legal assistant Blair Black said she was there at the time of the incident with her daughter and three other people.
"My daughter was five feet away," Black said.
Black said the resulting crash caused damage to the building.
"She went through the front door side and I guess she went to swerve around a car but no one saw the car," Black said.
Black said she was able to see the woman's car from inside the law firm.
"She accelerated all of the way through into the building," Black said.
Alamogordo police, fire and emergency responders arrived to the scene roughly 15 minutes after Black said the incident occurred.
According to the Alamogordo Police Department, no injuries were reported.
Black said the law firm is working to have the damage fixed.
"We have it ordered up, we just haven't gotten hold of the contractor because we're waiting for the appraiser to come through the insurance," Black said.
