NEWS: Sen. Ossoff Successfully Negotiates Inclusion of Affordable Health Coverage for Hundreds of Thousands of Georgians in Budget Measure
Washington, D.C. -- Following days of intense negotiations, Georgia U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff successfully negotiated inclusion of affordable health coverage for hundreds of thousands of Georgians who cannot afford health insurance in the upcoming Congressional budget measure.
Sen. Ossoff, alongside Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock, urged members of the House, Senate, and Biden Administration to close the coverage gap in Georgia and expand quality health care coverage to the hundreds of thousands of low-income Georgians who currently cannot afford it.
"Hundreds of thousands of our constituents in Georgia suffer from lack of health care," Sen. Ossoff said this week. "Folks are suffering and dying, and we have the power here in Congress to ensure that they get the care that they need."
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock have championed the issue of expanded health coverage and worked as a united front to get results for Georgia.
Earlier this year, Sens. Ossoff, Warnock, and Baldwin introduced the Medicaid Saves Lives Act to ensure low-income Georgians who cannot afford health care can afford coverage.
Jon Ossoff is the Senior United States Senator from the state of Georgia. Elected in 2021, he serves on the powerful Senate Judiciary; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; and Rules Committees. He also serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
