Second vaccine clinic planned at Expo for previous participants

Feb. 3—The thousands of Jackson County residents who received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at a drive-thru clinic at the Jackson County Expo last month are invited to return for a second dose next week, Jackson County Public Health officials said.

Health care workers from the county, Providence, Asante and the Oregon National Guard will team up with volunteers to host the clinic from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 11-13, at The Expo, 1 Peninger Road, Central Point.

Only the 7,200-plus people who were vaccinated with the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the previous drive-thru clinic, held Jan. 21-23, are eligible to attend.

The January event was for people involved in health care and education, as well as nursing home residents and staff.

Attendees at this month's mass vaccination event will be required to bring their COVID-19 vaccination record card as proof to receive the second dose. Those who do not have the card will need to have their eligibility verified in another manner.

Other documentation needed includes patient registration information, health insurance card, identification, and a vaccine administration record, according to the event website. "Many of you may already have an appointment at Asante or Providence for your second dose," the release said. "Asante and Providence are redirecting all of these appointments to attend the second dose drive-thru vaccination event at the Jackson County Expo. You do not need to call Asante or Providence to cancel your appointment. This has already been done for you."

"If you cannot reschedule your appointment to attend the second drive-through vaccination event due to scheduling conflicts, Asante and Providence will work with you to ensure you have an appointment," the release said.
