Scott Sprinkle Receives AICPA’s PFP Distinguished Service Award

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

LAS VEGAS, June 14 -- The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants issued the following news release:

The AICPA is pleased to announce that Scott Sprinkle, CPA/PFS has received the AICPA's 2016 Personal Financial Planning (PFP) Distinguished Service Award. The award, granted annually to an AICPA member whose volunteer efforts have made significant contributions to the personal financial planning profession, was presented yesterday at the AICPA's Advanced PFP Conference in Las Vegas.

"Scott is an incredible source for insights, direction, ideas and action. He is an inspiration for all CPA financial planners. His many contributions to the Advanced PFP Conference have added significant value for attendees and helped make the event into a 'must attend' conference for financial planners. He rose to the challenge of serving as the inaugural chair of the AICPA's ENGAGE Conference and is a big reason that the event has been a success" said Andrea Millar, CPA/PFS, AICPA's Director of Personal Financial Planning. "Scott's tireless work to raise the profile of CPAs who work as financial planners makes him a most deserving recipient of the Distinguished Service Award."

As chair of the AICPA Advanced Personal Financial Planning Conference from 2013-2016, Sprinkle built upon the conferences success and took it to new heights by bringing high-level speakers to talk about the most technically advanced content in PFP. Sprinkle served as chair of the 2017 ENGAGE conference, a collection of six unique conference co-located for the first time. In addition to this responsibility, he has continued his dedication to the PFP Conference, working with Ted Sarenski in his first year as chair.

Sprinkle is a regular speaker at AICPA conferences, both leading sessions and serving as a panelist. As chair of the AICPA Investment Committee, a position he has held since 2015, he has been pivotal in guiding the direction of the investments for the AICPA pension fund. He has contributed to many key projects including the fiduciary handbooks and the Statements on Responsibilities in Personal Financial Planning Practice.

He is a co-founder and Partner of Sprinkle Financial Consultants LLC and Sprinkle & Associates LLC, and has three decades of experience serving high net worth individuals and family offices.

"Scott embodies the role a CPA financial planner should take in their practice," said Lyle K. Benson, a past recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, who presented the award to Sprinkle. "He is a knowledgeable practitioner who weaves together the tax, financial planning and investment areas for his clients. But more importantly, he cares as deeply about his clients and their families as anyone I have ever met in my 30 years in this profession."

Sprinkle has been volunteering with the AICPA since 2003. He has served on the AICPA Investment Advisory Resource Panel Task Force (2003-2005), the AICPA PFP Executive Committee (2006-2009), the AICPA Responsibilities in PFP Services Task Force (2010-2011), PFP Thought Leadership Task Force (2014-2015) and the PFP Fiduciary Task Force (2006-2015). He also spent time as an Editorial Advisor for the Journal of Accountancy (2007-2013).

In addition to his work with the AICPA, Sprinkle has had extensive involvement advancing PFP efforts in his home state of Colorado, including serving as board member for the Colorado Society of CPAs and as past President and officer of the Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Council.
