WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 -- Rep. Sander Levin, D-Mich., issued the following news release:
Following Ways and Means Committee Democrats' request last week to Chairman Brady to hold bipartisan hearings on stabilizing the individual health insurance market, Ranking Member Richard Neal (D-MA) and Health Subcommittee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) again pressed the Chairman to take action and hold hearings on this topic in the Ways and Means Committee.
"Americans want Congress to put partisanship behind us and move forward with commonsense initiatives on health care that benefit all American families," said Rep. Neal. "A bipartisan hearing would be a good first step to help stabilize individual insurance markets, lower health insurance premiums, shore up exchanges, and protect Medicaid."
"We must not ignore this Committee's responsibility to take action to strengthen the individual insurance markets that have been weakened by the President's actions and threats," said Rep. Levin. "Republicans and Democrats in the Senate have begun to undertake such an effort. We should too."
