Rep. Rosen Votes to Expand Tax Relief to Nevada Small Businesses

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 -- Rep. Jacky Rosen, D-Nevada, issued the following news release:

Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) crossed the aisle and voted to pass the American Innovation Act (H.R. 6756), which would expand tax relief by allowing new businesses to write off up to $20,000 in startup costs. Rosen received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Spirit of Enterprise Award this year, which is given annually to members of Congress based on their votes on pro-business legislation as outlined in the Chamber's "How They Voted" scorecard. Earlier this year, Rosen introduced H.R. 5463, the Creating Tech Startup Jobs Act, a bill that would incentivize research and development hiring at tech startups through new tax credits and promote angel investment.

"Investing in the success of our small businesses is one of the best ways we can diversify and grow Nevada's local economy," said Rosen. "This legislation will help create jobs by allowing entrepreneurs to write off more of their startup costs so that they can invest in their businesses and create jobs in our community. I'll continue supporting pro-growth policies like these so that we can create good-paying jobs to stimulate Nevada's economy."

Rosen also voted against the Family Savings Act (H.R. 6757) after Republican leadership added a last-minute partisan rider to this bill that sets a dangerous precedent for women's reproductive rights that could lay the groundwork for creating a legal pathway to undermining a woman's right to choose.

"At a time when housing costs and student loan debt are on the rise, it's becoming increasingly difficult for Nevada's working families to find economic stability and security," continued Rosen. "That's why I was so disappointed by Republican leadership adding a poison pill threatening women's reproductive rights to this otherwise commonsense bill that I would have supported. I will continue to work with my colleagues on the other side of the aisle whenever possible to find solutions on issues that affect Nevada's working families."
