Yesterday, Rosen announced the passage of two bipartisan bills she co-sponsored to lower the price of life-saving prescription drugs. The Patient Right to Know Drug Prices Act (S. 2554) would guarantee that health insurance issuers and group health plans do not prohibit pharmacy providers from providing certain information to enrollees. The Know the Lowest Price Act of 2018 (S. 2553) would bar gag clauses that prohibit pharmacies from disclosing to consumers that they can, in certain cases, save money by paying out-of-pocket rather than with Medicare or Medicare Advantage. These bills will now go to the President to be signed into law.
