Rep. Rosen Issues Statement on Protections for Pre-Existing Conditions
Targeted News Service
WASHINGTON, June 12 -- Rep. Jacky Rosen, D-Nevada, issued the following statement denouncing the Trump administration's actions on health insurance protections for people with pre-existing conditions:
The Administration announced it will not defend a major part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that prevents insurance companies from denying coverage or charging more to cover pre-existing conditions. Approximately 1.2 million Nevadans have a pre-existing condition, according to the Center for American Progress.
"The Trump Administration still won't give up on its blatantly political efforts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act, even when it means increasing costs and threatening coverage for Nevadans who have a pre-existing condition.
"The Administration's move to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions as unconstitutional is a new low. Without these protections in place, Nevadans on the state exchange could go back to facing blatant discrimination from health insurance companies. I will continue to try to work with my colleagues to improve our health care system, lower costs for regular people, and fight against this Administration's continued assault on Nevadans' access to quality, affordable health care."
