Rep. Pelosi Issues Statement on Successful 2018 HealthCare.gov Enrollment Season

WASHINGTON, Dec. 21 -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-California, issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid reported that 8.8 million Americans signed up for health coverage on HealthCare.gov, just below the previous year's 9.2 million enrollees:
"From day one, the Trump Administration cynically worked to make it more difficult for Americans to hear about and enroll in the affordable health coverage available on HealthCare.gov. But even with Republicans' blatant sabotage efforts, even with the Trump Administration cutting the enrollment window in half, enrollment on HealthCare.gov beat all expectations to reach 96 percent of last year's.
"The Affordable Care Act and the landmark protection and affordable coverage it provides are here to stay. The American people surged to defend this historic law from the cruelty of Trumpcare, and they enrolled at a record pace in quality, affordable health coverage on HealthCare.gov. In marketplaces run by states committed to the ACA's success like California, enrollment looks to be even higher.
"Republicans continue to try to drive up Americans' health costs and add to the ranks of the uninsured, as we saw with the GOP tax scam. But the Affordable Care Act represents monumental, durable progress in the lives of tens of millions of American families - and we are never going back. Democrats will continue to reach across the aisle to improve and update this historic law, expanding coverage and driving down costs."
