WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 -- Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Pa. (18th CD), issued the following statement after the House passed a budget resolution giving Congress the legislative tools to repeal and replace outgoing President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act:
"The House voted to begin the process of untangling the complicated and collapsing Affordable Care Act, a government-run, taxpayer-funded insurance monopoly.
"Just a few years in and the astronomically expensive ACA is already being illegally bailed out with taxpayer dollars because the government account set up to make payments to insurance companies ran out of money nearly as soon as the law was rolled out.
"Today's vote was the first step in delivering the American people a better healthcare system. Obamacare has failed and we're working with President-elect Trump to rescue and rebuild the collapsing system. It won't happen overnight but let me emphasize that we're not going to pull the rug out from underneath anyone. There will be a stable transition to better system that delivers the reforms the American people are demanding: care you need, at a price a price you can afford, from a doctor of your choosing."
