WASHINGTON, July 20 -- Rep. A. Donald McEachin, D-Va., issued the following statement following the Congressional Budget Office's report on the latest Senate bill to partially repeal the Affordable Care Act:
"Gaining votes by punishing more hardworking Americans is inhuman. Once Senate Republicans realized that they did not have enough votes to pass the previous repeal-and-replace bill, they decided to put forward a repeal-and-delay bill.
"Yesterday the CBO report confirmed this legislation would rip away health coverage from 32 million Americans and double premiums for those who still have insurance. This bill forces Americans to make life-and-death decisions to fund tax breaks for the wealthy.
"We deserve better than the Senate's latest bill. I will continue to fight tooth and nail against any plan that takes health insurance away from hard-working American families."
