Rep. Lance Tops List of Bipartisan Lawmakers

WASHINGTON, April 24 -- Rep. Leonard Lance, R-New Jersey, issued the following news release:

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today was ranked one of the most bipartisan lawmakers in Congress. The rankings were compiled by The Lugar Center and Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy Bipartisan Index. Lance placed 13th among all 435 members of Congress from both sides of the aisle.

"The most effective lawmakers know that good governance and good public policy must always come from the center-out. That is how durable policy must be crafted and that is how I have always conducted myself. Extreme partisanship may grab headlines but it is a disservice to thoughtful debate. Major accomplishments of this Congress like the bipartisan sanctions on Russia and North Korea and the bipartisan reauthorization of the Children's Health Insurance Program would not have been possible without the voices in the center. I will continue to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle on what I think is in the best interest of the Nation - not of one side of the aisle," said Lance, who has been consistently ranked a top bipartisan lawmaker.

Lance is a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus, a group of 40 members of Congress - 20 Republicans and 20 Democrats - that commit themselves to bipartisan solutions to the country's pressing issues. The group has led legislation on government funding, gun and school safety, a DACA solution and sensible border security, stabilization of the healthcare market and a commitment to improving the tone of discourse in Congress. Lance also sits on the Energy and Commerce Committee which advances more bipartisan legislation than any other and took the lead this Congress in passing CHIP, legislation to combat the opioid crisis and many consumer protection measures.

"When I craft legislation I always try to recruit lawmakers from the other side of the aisle so we can advance good ideas together. It's clear that has been a successful formula," Lance concluded.
