WASHINGTON, Nov. 4 -- Rep. Clay Higgins, R-La., issued the following statement after the House passed the Championing Healthy Kids Act (H.R. 3922) that extends funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for five years. The bill also extends funding for Federally Qualified Health Centers and other public health programs for two years.
"Both the Children's Health Insurance Program and community health centers provide health services to low-income and under-served populations.
"I'm glad to see the House pass measures that reauthorize and extend both programs in a fiscally responsible manner that protects taxpayer dollars while prioritizing healthcare for the most vulnerable Americans."
