WASHINGTON, July 25 -- Rep. Alma S. Adams, D-N.C., issued the following statement concerning Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement:
"Healthcare is not a partisan issue. As elected representatives, we have a sacred responsibility to ensure that every American has access to quality and affordable healthcare.
"Instead of honoring this commitment, Republicans have held Congress hostage for months with attempt after attempt to strip millions of Americans, from 22 million to 32 million, of healthcare.
"This is unacceptable and enough is enough. Republicans have failed and the American people have won, the Affordable Care Act is the law of the land. It is time for Republicans to come to the table and work with Democrats to strengthen the ACA."
