Finance

Terrabank announced that Mari Colina joined the firm as vice president branch relationship manager. Previously, Colina was vice president and financial sales manager at First Citizens Bank, formerly Biscayne Bank. Before that, she was vice president and branch manager at both Capital Bank and Colonial Bank.

Amerant Mortgage LLC, a subsidiary of Amerant Bank, named Tony Eelman as president. Eelman, formerly executive vice president and chief strategy officer, is a founding partner of Amerant Mortgage, which opened in December 2020.

Fort Lauderdale-based Health Network One, a provider of specialty benefit management services for health insurers, named Claudio Kapusta as senior vice president of finance and accounting.

Medical

University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Holy Cross Health residents were matched in fellowship positions across the country through the National Resident Matching Program. Fellowships are two to three years depending on the subspecialty. In South Florida, they include: Ashvin Zachariah, M.D., Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Miami at JFK Medical Center; Mauricio Tellez, M.D., Critical Care Medicine at University of Miami/Jackson Health System; Chavely Valdes Sanchez, M.D., Nephrology University of Miami/Jackson Health System; and Jeany Villamizer, M.D., Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at University of Miami/Jackson Health System

Gynecologic Oncologist John P. Diaz, M.D., was appointed medical director of Robotic Surgery and chair of the Robotics and Innovations in Surgery Subcommittee at Baptist Health South Florida.

Hersimren Kaur Basi, MD, was appointed as a pain management specialist at Cleveland Clinic Florida’s Weston Hospital.

Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin announced that Alan C. Nash, shareholder in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, was appointed to the board of directors of the Broward County chapter of RIMS, the Risk and Insurance Management Society.

Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm announced that Kaitlin Stapleton joined the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office as an associate.

Weiss Serota Helfman Cole + Bierman named new partners at the law firm: Attorneys Anne R. Flanigan, Richard Rosengarten, Lindsey Ryder, Alison Smith, Lori Smith-Lalla and Alex Uribe.

Louis Caplan was named managing partner of Sachs Sax Caplan. Caplan is a founding partner of the Boca Raton-based firm and chairman of its community associations practice group.

Carlton Fields announced that Marisa C. Halm joined the firm’s Miami office as an associate. She is a member of the firm’s national real estate and commercial finance practice

NAIOP South Florida, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, announced the following officers for the 2022 Board of Directors: President is Christopher Thomson, Cushman & Wakefield executive managing director; President-Elect, Dan Cioci, Risk Strategies Co. senior vice president; Treasurer, Alex Gulick, Procacci Development Corp. chief financial officer; and Secretary, Lauren Pace, Duke Realty senior leasing representative.

Cultural

Business for the Arts of Broward announced that Marc Aptakin, Timothy L. Bryant and Jérémie Lortie joined the board of directors. Aptakin is president and CEO of MAD Studios / Yes We Are MAD, a Fort Lauderdale-based advertising and Tech agency and co-founder of MAD’s sister divisions Mad Dev and Mad Labs. Bryant is senior manager of external affairs for Florida Power and Light Co., and Lortie is creative director for the Florida Panthers.

Media Stage announced the promotions of Larry Blocker and Michael Alers. Blocker was promoted to chief operating officer. Previously vice president & general manager for Media Stage, Blocker joined the company in 2017 following 10 years at the Miami Marlins as senior director of game presentation and events. Miami-based healthcare industry marketing agency VS/Brooks is re-founding after 25 years, with a broadened focus on the health and wellness marketing and a new name: The 3rd Eye. Also, the firm announced new leadership. Chief Creative Officer Rob Canales, Chief Operating Officer Anais Rodriguez, and Chief Vision Officer Diana Brooks, who launched the original agency in the mid-1990s. Rodriguez joined The 3rd Eye from Zubi Advertising. Canales started at the agency as an intern.
