State law changes for condominiums have created new requirements that must be dealt with by both brokers and condominium boards to ensure the proper types and levels of insurance are in place. There are currently changes going on in the property insurance industry, as most insurance providers are significantly raising premiums or in some cases dropping condominium insurance policies.
Higher deductibles for the condo association master policies may be one way to deal with some of these issues, but the association must notify the homeowners of changes so they can have their own home policies reviewed and adjustments to ensure they have adequate protection in place.
