Florida Roofing Co. President, Contractor Face 9 Insurance Fraud Counts
Brian Webb, of Naples, was arrested March 15 after he failed to turn himself in March 14, records show. Brandon Jourdan, of Cape Coral, a contractor for Webb's company, was arrested March 13. Both face nine counts of filing a false or fraudulent insurance claim.
Webb had nine active felony warrants out of Lee County linked to insurance claim fraud, according to his arrest report.
His contractor, Brandon Jourdan, is accused of paying, waiving or rebating all or part of an insurance deductible with the intent to injure, defraud or deceive, according to his arrest report.
The rebates were used to cover homeowners' insurance deductible if they submitted a full roof replacement claim to their property insurance company, according to a press release from Chief Financial Officer and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis' office.
Those insurance claims span back to 2019, according to the press release.
"Our president Brian was recently detained, and while we take these accusations and charges earnestly, we believe we were functioning within the law," Webb Roofing & Construction spokesperson Kelly LaMagna wrote in a statement.
Jourdan appeared before Judge Bruce E. Kyle on March 21 and pleaded not guilty. His next court appearance is set May 4.
Webb bonded out March 16, Collier County sheriff's records show.
His arraignment was slated for April 11, but he entered a plea of not guilty and waived his court appearance. He doesn't have further court activity scheduled.
