The NAIC Life Policy Locator was launched in November of 2016 to help consumers locate benefits from life insurance policies and annuity contracts of a deceased family member or close relationship. There have been over 400 insurance companies participating in the program since 2019.
"We encourage people to visit the NAIC's website and utilize the Lost Policy Locator Tool to make a difficult experience as easy as possible to overcome," said DJ Bettencourt, Deputy Insurance Commissioner. "Given the high match rate we have seen, we believe there remains a significant amount of money that remains to be claimed and consumers can be assured that the Lost Policy Locator is secure, confidential and free to use."
