Aug. 14--The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency has approved a 15-year property tax and sales tax abatement as part of an investment in its facility within the Wheatfield Business Park.
Moog has decided to invest in the Wheatfield facility as part of a $25 million effort to ensure that it meets the company's needs and those of its aerospace customers. Company officials and representatives from the NCIDA say the planned investments, which include new construction, renovation, new equipment and furniture and production equipment, will provide a more reliable, safer and more efficient facility. The project is expected to retain 50 full-time jobs and result in the creation of 25 additional full-time jobs.
Moog designs, assembles and tests small thrusters, components and systems for space propulsion. The hardware made and tested at the Wheatfield facility is used on a wide range of government and private satellites to control orbits and orientation. Applications of these satellites range from communication to scientific missions to national defense. Moog's hardware is also used on interplanetary exploration vehicles and missiles.
The space propulsion hardware complements other hardware and systems that Moog designs and manufactures for launch vehicles, satellites and missiles and support's Moog's legacy in the aerospace markets that goes back to its founding in the 1950s.
