Military Makeover with Montel comes to Panama City Beach

Jul. 12--PANAMA CITY BEACH -- After Hurricane Michael destroyed the home of Gold Star Widow Cody Patron in October, "Military Makeover with Montel" is helping her pick up the pieces.

The veteran-focused home makeover show from Lifetime Television will film its "big reveal" and unveil the finished home July 20 in Panama City Beach with series host Montel Williams -- a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy and talk show legend. Williams, a military advocate, also co-produces the show. WWE superstar Lacey Evans, a military police officer in the U.S. Marines before she was introduced to wrestling, is set to make an appearance at the house July 17.

"Six episodes will start airing the end of August," said Stanton Smith, BrandStar Communication Director.

The local episodes will air on Lifetime Television at 6:30 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays, beginning Aug. 30; or view them on militarymakeover.tv.

Patron's husband, Sgt. Daniel J. Patron, was killed in Afghanistan in August 2011 after serving more than a decade in the Marine Corps in an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. He was a recipient of The Purple Heart and The Bronze Star Medal for his heroic service. Patron had been working to pick up the pieces with their daughter, Layla, since his passing. After water and wind damage from the category 5 hurricane, her house was barely livable with bare concrete floors, hanging ceiling debris and a torn roof.

"I didn't have homeowners insurance as that is something my late husband took care of," Patron stated in a press release. "I had no idea I had to have it when I bought my home, and now Hurricane Michael has torn up so much of our lives."

"Military Makeover" hopes to give Patron and her daughter a fresh start for healing. The team comes prepared with building supplies, designs, furniture and gifts from the show's partnerships. The crew also involves companies within the local community, and volunteers have been invited to help support the Patron family throughout the renovation process. With help from the cast and crew, designers, decorators, contractors, landscapers and other home improvement professionals, Patron's home will be completely transformed.
