NEW YORK (AP) _ MetLife Inc. (MET) on Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $395 million.
On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had profit of 41 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $1.21 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.18 per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $22.27 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $23.69 billion, also surpassing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $19.89 billion.
