Members from Rangers making stops in county

Jan. 12--Hunt County is scheduled to receive a little taste of Major League Baseball Friday, with representatives from the Texas Rangers making appearances in Wolfe City and Greenville.

Members of the team are set to be on hand for a pep rally at Wolfe City High School at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The appearance is in conjunction with a grant presented in September 2016 to the United Way of Hunt County and the Wolfe City Youth Sports Association (YSA) by the Texas Rangers and the Glove Life Insurance Company.

The $5,000 grant will be used for improvements and equipment for youth baseball and softball fields in the city.

"The Wolfe City Youth Sports Association is excited to work with the Texas Rangers to make some much needed updates to our baseball facilities," said Chester Adams with the Wolfe City YSA. "The kids in our organization would like to send the Texas Rangers a big thank you for their contributions and for always being exceptional role models for our kids to look up to, Thank you very much."

"United Way of Hunt County is proud to be helping facilitate some improvements in Wolfe City," said United Way of Hunt County Executive Director Frances Dalbey. "We love it when we can partner with entities to make great things happen!"

There will be a volunteer workday at the Wolfe City YSA sports park, located on State Highway 11, starting at 9 a.m. March 4.

Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers Winter Caravan has also scheduled a stop in Greenville the same day. Rangers Tony Barnett and Matt Bush are set to appear at the Academy Sports & Outdoors store, 3204 Interstate 30, between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Friday.
