Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), total Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) enrollment was 73.8 million as ofJune 30, 2018 . This represents an approximate 500,000 decrease in covered lives fromJune 2017 . - As of
June 30, 2018 , total Medicaid managed care membership reported through NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners ) and CA DMHC (California Department of Managed Health Care ) statutory filings was 49.4 million. - Out of the top five managed care companies – Anthem and Molina saw year-over-year decreases in enrollment, whereas Centene, UnitedHealth and Wellcare experienced increases. These top five companies control 45% of the overall Medicaid managed care market.
