Making Magick in Audubon

Retrospect, The (Collingswood, NJ)

Magick is the art of creation or transformation, and that's exactly what Melissa Reddick hopes to help her clients achieve at the new Care for You Healing Arts Center in Audubon.

"I've been on a mission to be a healer for I don't even know how long, maybe since I was a teenager," she explained, but she recently gave up her job at a health insurance company to focus on her healing service full time.

Care for You Healing Arts Center held its grand opening on January 1, with a special day filled with vendors, baked goods and people from the community. Now, clients can find hope through meditation, healing and empowerment right in Audubon.

"I want to help people find that true, pure change within, so they can see that change in the outside world," said Reddick.

"That might be a change in job or relationship status, a move or a new passion. All these things happen because of changes within us - a healing or awakening." Reddick said people come to her because they know there is more to life and more to their spiritual journey.

"They're looking for something and haven't quite found it," she explained. "We are healers who want to bring world peace, but that is something that happens within." Often, people have a difficult time finding a balance between service to self and service to others. "Knowing yourself and bringing more of that connection to the great I am is what creates peace," she said.

Those on healing journeys, including herself, are often surprised to find that they have hope again, which makes them better able to make decisions that would have otherwise paralyzed them.

"I want to listen to people, hear where they are and help them overcome whatever they need to overcome," she said.

One of Reddick's clients faced a difficult decision when her boyfriend was offered a job in California. The woman struggled with whether to follow him there, continue as a long-distance relationship or break up and stay behind.

"She took the leap and did the thing that was scary. Now she's living out in California and married to that boyfriend," Reddick explained.

"I've also seen people who felt trapped in life, having to hustle, working for less than their time is worth," she said. However, making life changes to go back to school or do something to earn more money often leaves them freer than before.

The last few years, Reddick has focused on taking care of herself as well so she can take better care of others, rather than feeling that her happiness is dependent on that of another. "I need to connect with my joy so that I can share in your joy."
