Luncheons focus on Medicare plans

Now is the time for individuals eligible for Medicare health coverage to evaluate which plan is best for their personal circumstances during the upcoming year.

Every year, Medicare's open-enrollment period begins on Oct. 15 and continues through Dec. 7, which is when all people with Medicare can change their Medicare health plans and prescription drug coverage for the following year to better meet their needs. Since Medicare health and drug plans can make changes each year — things like cost, coverage and what providers and pharmacies are in their networks, it's helpful to attend a program to learn what you need to know to make the best decisions for your health coverage.

Genesis Health System welcomes back its talented Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) team for the final Healthy Habits over Lunch quarterly presentations in this year's 2023 series, which are designed to offer timely, informative education opportunities for Club members to support healthy living, living longer, and loving life.

SHIIP is a free, objective and confidential service offered through the states of Iowa and Illinois to help people sort through confusing information about Medicare and health insurance. The October presentations are highly recommended for persons turning 65 in 2023 or 2024, as well as anyone experiencing changes in their health care needs.

Come and join us. Advance registration is necessary as all attendees enjoy a free box lunch, courtesy of Genesis and Hy-Vee. Registrations must be received by the Club by this Thursday, Oct. 19. You are invited to attend the event at whichever one of the two sessions is most convenient for you: „

• Tuesday, Oct. 24, at noon until 1 p.m. in the Adler Auditorium at the Genesis Heart Institute, 1236 E. Rusholme St., Lower Level in Davenport. Attendees can park in the garage just past the Institute. „

• Thursday, Oct. 26, at noon until 1 p.m. in the Larson Center building, lower level, next to the Genesis Medical Center, 855 Illini Drive in Silvis. Attendees can park in the parking lot in front of the Larson Center.

When viewing the October Monthly Calendar, click next on the Healthy Habits session you desire to attend (either Davenport on Oct. 24 or Silvis on Oct. 26). A window opens displaying the event's details and online Registration Form for you to complete and submit.

•„ Clip out, complete and mail the paper Registration Form appearing on this page in time for it to be received by this Thursday, Oct. 19.

•„ Send a text message or leave a voice message at 847-334-6720 that provides all the information requested on the Registration Form appearing on this page.

You'll receive a 4-digit registration confirmation number from the Club to bring with you for check-in at the Healthy Habits session.
