Linda McMahon Helping Small Businesses in Texas Flooding
Hartford Courant (CT)
Aug. 29--Small business administrator Linda McMahon is currently in Texas as part of the federal government's massive relief efforts to help those suffering from the flooding of Hurricane Harvey.
McMahon, a Greenwich Republican who oversees the U.S. Small Business Administration, traveled to Texas on Tuesday with fellow Cabinet members and President Donald J. Trump.
During a nationally televised briefing in Corpus Christi, Trump mentioned McMahon by name while discussing the administration's efforts to help Houston and surrounding suburbs. He pointed to Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, along with McMahon, at the briefing.
Trump told those gathered that federal officials want to help in the efforts following a storm of "epic proportion'' that will only get worse as the heavy rain continues.
"Nobody's ever seen anything like this,'' Trump said in remarks carried live on several cable television networks.
The White House said that top officials, including McMahon, traveled to Texas to get a first-hand look at the devastation and meet their counterparts at the state and local levels whom they will be working with in the weeks and months ahead on the rebuilding efforts.
