LIFE Pittsburgh Is A Proven Alternative To PA’s New Medicaid Program “Community HealthChoices”

Insurance Weekly News

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Insurance Weekly News -- LIFE Pittsburgh, a local Pennsylvania LIFE Program, part of the nationally recognized PACE program, has been announced as an alternative for the State's new Medicaid delivery program, Community HealthChoices.

The State's program, launching in January 2018, requires Medicaid and Medicare individuals to select one of three Managed Care Organizations or the LIFE Program (if eligible) to receive long-term services and supports. Individuals affected received a notice from the State concerning choosing a provider in early September, and will be receiving a pre-enrollment packet from the State the week of October 2nd. Those affected will need to select a provider no later than November 13th, 2017. While Managed Care Organizations begin providing care on January 1, 2018, eligible individuals can enroll in the LIFE program immediately to begin receiving services prior to that date.

LIFE Pittsburgh has 18 years of experience using a proven model to provide all of the care necessary to allow older adults to remain independent and living in their homes. LIFE Pittsburgh is a comprehensive program that offers all Medicare and Medicaid services, plus many additional services, in the LIFE Centers, in one's home and, if needed, in a hospital or facility. Services include medical care, home care, personal care, medications, transportation and more for people age 55 and older. There are no costs for those who qualify.

"LIFE Pittsburgh has been honored to serve hundreds of seniors with complex medical, social and economic challenges over the last 18 years," says Joann Gago, RN, MSN, Chief Executive Officer of LIFE Pittsburgh. "Our goal is to support the older adult through their senior years with care and compassion. Importantly, we partner with our seniors in a personal way to provide all the care and services they need. We want all eligible older adults to know about our program as strong, experienced and an available option in this new Community HeathChoices program."

To learn more about LIFE Pittsburgh and Community HealthChoices before pre-enrollment packets are mailed the week of October 2nd, call 412-388-8050.
