What an alarming editorial in the Oct. 28The Daily Sun, that a large amount of the money paid out by insurance companies are going to lawyers that get large amounts of any additional payouts from lawsuits.
The Sun claims that only 9% of the nation's insurance claims are made by Florida homeowners, yet 79% of all lawsuits against insurers originate in Florida. Can you imagine how that greatly increases the cost of doing businesses for these insurance companies? Not only for the additional payouts, but for providing the info structure to handle these claims in court if not settled out of court.
Guess what, that cost of doing business is affecting our ease of getting and our cost of purchasing insurance. I have heard at least four lawyer advertisements against the mean insurance companies during this writing. Because of the deductibles associated with hurricane policies, I imagine they will be attracted to many clients resulting in a big win-fall for the law firms. A big win-fall for them and difficult to-get and higher insurance premium for us. So sad!
By the way, I turned off the TV, there might have been more advertisements before I finished!
