On the mornings of July 28, 2022, and July 29, 2022, the Avalanche-Journal printed articles regarding the millions of dollars of profit that gun manufacturers reported from the sale of AR-15 guns to teenage boys and young men. They say these young men want to own an AR-15 because it makes them feel macho. The gun manufacturer admits that their advertising is targeted to these young men plus they will even finance the firearm for them. Another item that young men want to own that makes them feel macho is a car. However, the expense of owning a car includes license, registration and liability insurance, which is especially expensive for teenage boys and girls.
Recently it was suggested that the people who buy these high-powered, dangerous guns should be required to have a license, registration and liability insurance on the gun and its owner in the event the gun causes harm to someone just like a car could cause harm to someone. This sounds like a good idea and just might keep guns out of the hands of irresponsible people.
Of course, it would also cut into the profits of gun manufacturers who are big supporters of the NRA and who care more about their profits than about people.
