LegalShield’s Industry-Leading Digital Will Questionnaire Drives Awareness and Increases Requests for Estate Planning

Business Wire

Legal Experts at the Elevate Law Conference in San Diego Provided Continuing Legal Education, Which Included the Topic of Estate Planning, Living Trusts and Tax Issues; Discussed was the Role of Technology in Creating a Will.

ADA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- LegalShield, one of North America’s leading providers of affordable legal plans and identity theft solutions for individuals, families and small businesses, brought together lawyers from across North America, which included many from LegalShield’s panel of provider law firms and referral attorneys who provide services in all 50 states and four provinces in Canada. Lawyers were able to participate in a continuing legal education session on estate planning, living trusts and tax issues. The discussion took place at the company’s first Elevate Law Conference on July 8 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.

Scott Howard, a partner at Kivel & Howard in Portland, Ore., led the session, which provided Continuing Legal Education credit for participants, including LegalShield provider attorneys. Technology and LegalShield’s industry-leading initiatives to increase awareness of legal services, drove the discussion. With the potential of government tax reforms comes uncertainty. There also exists the challenge of dealing with the variance in tax laws by state.

"As you consult with your member, you need to know your state's death tax laws. You must also consider the potential tax implications when considering the transfer of property. You must stay current as the estate tax laws can change with the wind,” said Howard. “You also have to watch out for real property ownership in multiple states. This is just the beginning of many other reasons that it is imperative that individuals seek professional legal advice. Your LegalShield law firm will know and understand how to help you accomplish what you are seeking to do."

LegalShield allows members to reach their law firm directly with one-touch app dialing, and introduced its digital will questionnaire feature earlier this year. App users are no longer burdened with submitting lengthy documents via postal mail or even email; they can simply tap “Prepare Your Will” on the app interface, complete the questions, and submit the form to their law firm.

The three-day Elevate Law Conference kicked off the west coast celebration of the company’s 45th year of business. Lawyers from across North America, including many from LegalShield’s panel of provider law firms and referral attorney network, came together for continuing legal education—and to network with legal experts who are passionate about eliminating barriers to justice that have existed too long based on high legal fees.

About LegalShield

A pioneer in the democratization of affordable access to legal protection, LegalShield is one of North America’s leading providers of legal safeguards and protection against identity theft for individuals, families and small businesses. The 45-year-old company protects more than 1,647,000 individual, families and businesses through its legal plans, while IDShield provides identity protection to one million individuals. In addition, LegalShield and IDShield serve more than 141,000 businesses. Both legal and identity theft plans start as low as $20 per month.

LegalShield’s legal plans provide access to attorneys with an average of 19 years of experience in areas such as family matters, estate planning, financial and business issues, consumer protection, tax, real estate, benefits disputes and auto/driving issues. Unlike other legal plans or do-it-yourself websites, LegalShield has dedicated law firms in 50 states and four provinces in Canada that members can call for help without having to worry about high hourly rates. IDShield provides identity monitoring and restoration services and is the only identity theft protection company armed with a team of licensed private investigators on call to restore a member’s identity.
