Law Firm of Stewart J. Guss Launches Fundraiser to Help Local Officers Impacted by Harvey

The Law Firm of Stewart Guss is pleased to announce that it is spearheading a GoFundMe campaign aimed at helping local sheriff's deputies who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. Stewart Guss personally made the first donation of $2,500 to the effort, which has a goal of raising $10,000.

In explaining his desire to help, Mr. Guss explained that "when I heard that these sheriff's deputies were so devastated by Hurricane Harvey I knew I had to do something, and I knew my friends, neighbors, and fellow Texans would want to help as well."

The campaign is specifically aimed at helping four sheriff's deputies deal with losses associated with damage to their homes as a result of the storm and flood, most or all of which was not covered by insurance. The four deputies are:

• Deputy Wesley Martin – Deputy Martin's home near a river basin was completely destroyed.
• Chris Wood – Officer Wood's just-purchased home was severely damaged in the storm and was unable to be salvaged. He had not yet purchased homeowner's insurance at the time of the storm.
• Carry Gray – Officer Gray's home near a river basin sustained extensive damage in the storm. After the flooding, the entire first floor of his home was under water.
• Brent Kay – Officer Kay's home was completely destroyed by flooding.

As first responders, these sheriff's deputies were out helping others while their own lives were being seriously impacted by the devastation. This fundraising effort is Attorney Stewart Guss' way of letting first responders know that the community cares. It is also a "thank you" to these men for their bravery and service to those in need. The funds raised from this campaign will be distributed evenly among the deputies listed above.
