Humana Maintains Affordable Medicare Advantage Plans and Expands Specialized Care Options for 2027

Business Wire

Humana Medicare Advantage Plans deliver care, coverage, and valuable benefits that support better health and affordability

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
As Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP) begins Oct. 15, Humana is offering 2027 Medicare Advantage plans designed to deliver high-value coverage with affordable monthly premiums. Members will have continued access to the benefits they value most – including $0 cost-sharing on in-network primary care visits and labs plus dental, vision, and hearing coverage. Additional 2027 highlights include:

  • Medicare Advantage plans in approximately 2,600 counties across 45 states and Washington, D.C., representing more than 80% of U.S. counties.

  • Expanded Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs) – Medicare Advantage plans designed for people with qualifying chronic health conditions – into Pennsylvania, Utah and Wisconsin, giving more beneficiaries with qualifying chronic conditions access to specialized, coordinated care, extra benefits and support.

Humana’s 2027 Medicare Advantage plans are designed to provide affordable coverage, predictable healthcare costs and access to benefits that support beneficiaries’ everyday health needs. Medicare Advantage plans cover all services offered through fee-for-service Medicare, with many plans also providing prescription drug benefits, dental, vision and hearing coverage, and maximum out-of-pocket protection, helping beneficiaries know upfront the most they would pay for eligible medical expenses during the year.

“Medicare Advantage brings healthcare coverage, care coordination and additional benefits together in a way that helps support both health and affordability,” said Aaron Martin, Humana’s President of Insurance. “Members consistently tell us they value affordable coverage and access to quality care and benefits such as pharmacy, dental and vision that support their everyday health needs. That feedback continues to guide our Medicare Advantage offerings and reinforce the important role the program plays in helping people navigate healthcare with confidence.”

Humana’s 2027 offerings were designed around the priorities Medicare beneficiaries consistently identify as most important when evaluating health coverage. A recent Morning Consult survey found affordability, stability, access and choice rank among beneficiaries’ top priorities when selecting health coverage. The survey also found that Florida seniors view Medicare Advantage favorably on key attributes such as prescription drug coverage, affordability and access to dental, vision and hearing benefits.

These findings reinforce Humana’s continued focus on designing Medicare Advantage offerings, services and support that address beneficiaries’ health, financial and care priorities.

How Humana Supports Beneficiaries Through Medicare Advantage

As part of its 2027 Medicare Advantage offerings, Humana remains focused on delivering simple, affordable coverage and coordinated care, along with access to the benefits and services members consistently identify as most important to their health, finances and peace of mind.

Key Facts about Humana’s 2027 Medicare Advantage Plans:

  • Available in approximately 2,600 counties across 45 states and Washington, D.C.
  • Available to beneficiaries in more than 80% of U.S. counties

  • Expansion of Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs) into Pennsylvania, Utah and Wisconsin
  • New access to $0 in-network routine lab services

  • Continued access to $0 copays for in-network primary care visits in eligible plans

  • Continued access to $0 copays on hundreds of prescription medications in eligible plans

  • Dental, vision and hearing benefits available across plan offerings

  • $0 or low monthly premium plans

Humana is simplifying the Medicare Advantage plan shopping experience by continuing to standardize core benefits across much of its portfolio, making it easier for beneficiaries to compare coverage options while maintaining access to the benefits and services they count on most.

How Medicare Advantage Supports Health and Affordability

Humana’s 2027 offerings reflect many of the features that have made Medicare Advantage a popular choice for more than half of eligible beneficiaries, including integrated healthcare benefits, coordinated care, predictable costs, and additional services that support healthier aging. Together, these features help protect beneficiaries from unexpected healthcare expenses and save them nearly $3,500 per year on premiums and out-of-pockets costs compared to Fee-for-Service Medicare plans.

Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans combine healthcare coverage, prescription drug benefits, care coordination and supplemental benefits into a single health plan. Research has consistently shown Medicare Advantage beneficiaries receive preventive care and primary care services at higher rates than beneficiaries in fee-for-service Medicare and experience better outcomes, including fewer emergency department visits and hospital admissions.
