Dec. 10--The Adams Memorial Library will hold an open enrollment day for Westmoreland County residents interested in learning more about how they can sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act.
The sign-up event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the library, 1112 Ligonier Street, Latrobe.
Navigators, individuals who are trained to help residents understand plan options, will be available. There is no cost to working with a navigator.
Residents can choose from plans offered by UPMC and Highmark for 2019. Open enrollment for individual health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act runs through Dec. 15.
More information on plans available across Pennsylvania counties is available at www.insurance.pa.gov. Residents can also access links to navigators, videos on understanding and using health care, as well as directions for signing up for coverage.
In 2018, more than 10,400 Westmoreland County residents enrolled in individual health plans through the Healthcare.gov site, which hosts enrollment for Affordable Care Act plans, according to data provided by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.
