Karlinsky Discusses Future of Florida Constitution During Federalist Society Panel

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, May 22 -- Greenberg Traurig, a law firm, issued the following news release:

Fred E. Karlinsky, a shareholder in the Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee offices of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. participated in the Federalist Society's panel discussion "The Future of the Florida Constitution" on May 15 in Fort Lauderdale. The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies promotes the principles of preserving freedom and the separation of governmental powers. The panel discussed the Florida Constitution Revision Commission (CRC)'s approval of eight proposed constitutional changes to be placed on the 2018 General Election ballot for voter consideration in November. These proposed revisions resulted from 14 months of identifying issues, conducting research, considering and debating recommendations, and meeting with Floridians across the state, according to commission officials.

Karlinsky was joined on the panel by fellow Florida CRC Commissioners Tim Cerio and Hank Coxe, as well as Florida CRC General Counsel William Spicola. The panel was moderated by the Honorable Jeffrey Kuntz of the Fourth District Court of Appeal.

As a Florida CRC Commissioner, Karlinsky co-introduced five of the approved proposals and serves on the following committees:

* Finance and Taxation, Chair

* General Provisions

* Rules and Administration

* Style and Drafting

Karlinsky is Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig's Insurance Regulatory and Transactions Practice and a shareholder within the Government Law & Policy Group. He has 25 years of experience representing the interests of insurers, reinsurers and a wide variety of other insurance-related entities on their regulatory, transactional, corporate and governmental affairs matters. Karlinsky is a recognized authority on national insurance regulatory and compliance issues and has taken a leadership position in many insurance trade organizations, has led many industry-driven legislative and regulatory initiatives, and is a sought after thought leader who has spoken and presented to insurance executives and governmental officials, both nationally and internationally.
