Join Us for a Discussion on the Affordable Care Act and Future Health Reform Efforts

CHICAGO, Feb. 16 -- The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society issued the following news release:

On Tuesday, February 21, at 2:30 pm, please join HIMSS for a session focused on the public policy discussions underway on the future of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and health reform efforts. US Healthcare Reform Efforts: Now and Into the Future (http://www.himssconference.org/session/reserved-government-session) features two health policy experts for a discussion on the current state of ACA implementation as well as what issues need to be addressed in "repeal and replace" scenarios currently being considered in the US Congress as well as well as the Trump Administration.

Attendees at this session can expect to gain knowledge on the critical health reform issues and outcomes being discussed by both Republicans and Democrats.

Our two speakers include:

* Jonathan Gruber. PhD (http://economics.mit.edu/faculty/gruberj)

Dr. Gruber is the Ford Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has taught since 1992. He is also the Director of the Health Care Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research, where he is a Research Associate, and President Elect of the American Society of Health Economists. From 2003-2006, Dr. Gruber was a key architect of Massachusetts' ambitious health reform effort, and in 2006 became an inaugural member of the Health Connector Board, the main implementing body for that effort. During 2009-2010 he served as a technical consultant to the Obama Administration and worked with both the Administration and Congress to help craft the Affordable Care Act.

Mr. Feyman is an adjunct fellow at the Manhattan Institute. He writes on health care policy, entitlement reform, and ACA. His research has focused on a variety of topics, including the physician shortage, the cost of health care reform, and consumer-directed health care. Mr. Feyman was previously the deputy director of health policy at the Manhattan Institute and is currently a research assistant in the department of health policy at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

In 2013, Mr. Feyman, with colleagues Avik Roy and Paul Howard, released the Obamacare Impact Map, a state-by-state look at the effects of the ACA.
