International Doctor Debates Differences in Healthcare Coverage of US and UK in New Book

PR Web

Atlanta (PRWEB) November 28, 2016

Only six of the original 23 health care co-operatives in Obamacare are currently open. As such, the remaining co-ops plan to enforce massive premium hikes to stay afloat. Many believe the private health insurance sector will consolidate as they anticipate changes to present day regulations.

Using 30 years of experience, Dr. David Armstrong looks to give context for health insurance options by comparing Britain's socialized healthcare system to American's free market in "LEFT SHIFT: How and Why America is Heading Towards Second Rate, Single Payer Health Care."

"LEFT SHIFT" offers a comprehensive look at medical coverage in the U.S. and U.K., presenting side-by-side comparisons on funding, providers, and overall quality of care. Dr. Armstrong distills 10 years of medical research to capture the pitfalls of a single payer scheme and highlights the advantages of a privatized system.

"Britain's National Health Service is the standard for socialized medicine, but this system is underfunded and overstretched," Armstrong said. "Compared to America, U.K. death rates from breast and colon cancers are almost twice as high, because fewer preventive screenings are performed. The list goes on. This is what the U.S. is headed for if socialized medicine, like Obamacare, becomes the standard for medical coverage."

Dr. Armstrong has had a front seat to the demise of the single payer health service in Britain, warns against a similar fate for health care in the U.S. He argues against a "left shift" in healthcare policy that will that will move America closer to a socialized, single payer system, with all its second-rate outcomes.
