Commissioner Causey held a news conference to offer the following tips to help people dealing with storm damage:
* If your home was damaged, focus on documenting everything that was damaged and what it will cost to repair or replace.
* Take pictures of damage, both of the building and its contents, for insurance purposes. If you have any doubts about safety, have your home check out by a trained building inspector or structural engineer before entering.
* Make temporary repairs only. Do not have permanent repairs made until your insurance company has inspected your property and you have reached an agreement on the cost of repairs.
