Info for those impacted by recent ‘Kona low’ weather
Hawaii Tribune-Herald
The Department of Land and Natural Resources Engineering Division advises those impacted by winds and flooding brought about by the recent "Kona low" winter weather system to visit its https://waihalana.hawaii.gov website for information about floodplain management and flood insurance in Hawaii.
Click on the blog, "Resources for Individuals and Business Affected by the Kona Low Weather Event" for information on reporting damages to county officials, information on how to file a flood claim, and other mitigation resources.
Most standard homeowner's insurance policies do not cover flooding.
Anyone wanting information on obtaining flood insurance should contact their insurance agent, visit the National Flood Insurance Program website, or call the NFIP Help Center at 1-877-336-2627.
