Illinois CPA Society Honors Wayne Ebersberger With Its 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award

CHICAGO, Illinois, June 22 -- The Illinois CPA Society issued the following news release:

The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Wayne Ebersberger, CPA, retired partner with Ernst & Young, with its 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award. Ebersberger was recognized for demonstrating distinguished service to the Illinois CPA Society and the CPA profession throughout his career.

He received the award on Thursday, June 14 at the Illinois CPA Society's annual Leadership Recognition Dinner in Chicago.

During his 39 years at Ernst & Young, Ebersberger served numerous clients, mainly covering the insurance industry. His leadership roles included being the Regional Sector leader for the insurance industry, and leader of the firm's national health insurance assurance practice.

Ebersberger served on the Illinois CPA Society's Board of Directors for several years, including as Chairperson from 2005 - 2006. Additionally, he has served in various leadership roles on several committees and leadership groups for the Society and for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Currently, he serves on the Board of Federal Life Insurance Company, COUNTRY Trust Bank and the Glen Oak Country Club.

Ebersberger is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He was a founding member of the accounting faculty advisory board in which he served for a decade. In 2000, he was awarded the Notre Dame Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Alumnus of the Year. He continues to be a frequent speaker at Notre Dame on various accounting related topics.

"Over my career, I have viewed being a CPA as both challenging and rewarding," Ebersberger said. "My service to the Illinois CPA Society and the AICPA was one small way to give back to the profession for all the wonderful opportunities that I had over my career. My hope is that I have helped foster an environment for continued growth and prosperity for the profession."
