Targeted News Service (Press Releases)
WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 -- The office of Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., issued the following news release:
Today, US Senator Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA) spoke on the Senate floor, advocating for the Medicaid reform provisions included in his plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.
In 2013, as a member of the US House of Representatives, Dr. Cassidy introduced the Medicaid Accountability and Care Act to reform the federal funding structure for state Medicaid programs by delegating defined contribution beneficiary-based payments to states in differing amounts based on the number of Medicaid patients of each type (elderly, blind or disabled, children or adults). This would streamline the flow of federal dollars for each Medicaid beneficiary, regardless of the state in which the beneficiary lives. The base payment would be adjusted for factors known to influence a patient's cost of care. Read more here (https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/1853).
