House to Advance Obamacare Repeal Resolution

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 -- LIBRE Initiative issued the following news release:

Today the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to approve a budget resolution which directs Congressional committees to repeal significant portions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA, or Obamacare). The U.S. Senate approved the resolution earlier this week. If approved by the House, this measure is expected to lead to a future vote on such repeal legislation.

Today's vote is part of the ongoing debate in Congress about how to replace the failing health care law. Proposals to deliver on the original promises behind that law - lower costs, expanded coverage, and increased options - will be debated in Congress in the months ahead.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

"The American people have long recognized the importance of health care reform that preserves the best of the current system, while expanding consumer choice, reducing cost, and ensuring people have access to policies that meet their priorities.

"It is clear that the Washington-centric, top-down, one-size-fits-all approach adopted in 2010 has not delivered on these hopes. Instead, it is time for Congress to consider reforms that put people in charge of their own health care and insurance decisions. They should look to the best ideas advanced by states, and encourage competition to limit cost and improve service.

"Few groups have been hit harder than the Latino community by the higher premiums and deductibles that have become so common in the wake of Obamacare. "The American people support a new approach on health care reform, and we thank leaders in Congress who are working to deliver. We look forward to the coming debate, and we encourage all policymakers to advance their best ideas."
