Homeowner: Vehicle crash knocked house partly off its foundation

Oct. 22--GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP -- A two-vehicle crash in southern Crawford County sent one pickup truck into a home Monday morning, knocking the house partly off its foundation.

"I'm waiting for the (insurance) adjuster to look at it," said Lisa Peterson, the home's owner told the Tribune on Monday. "It's moved about 18 inches off the foundation."

No information about the 9:50 a.m. crash at Adamsville Road and Route 19 in Greenwood Township was made available by Pennsylvania State Police at Meadville.

Reports from the scene indicated two vehicles collided near the intersection with the impact sending one of the vehicles, a four-door pickup truck, into the front of Peterson's home at 4343 Route 19.

At least three people were injured in the crash, with at least one person, a 54-year-old man, transported to Meadville Medical Center for treatment of injuries, according to emergency radio traffic.

Emergency personnel from Greenwood Township and Vernon Central volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the scene along with several ambulances.

Peterson wasn't home at the time of the crash and received word of the incident from her sister, Peterson said.

"My sister was coming home and saw what happened," Peterson said. "She lives just down the road from me and called, saying I needed to come home."

Peterson's three dogs were home when the crash happened, but the animals weren't injured, she said.

"Two were in the area (of the house) where it happened and the other was in another part. They're all OK," she said.

Peterson was in the process of getting the damaged portions of the home boarded up Monday.
